The Hyundai Kia D4HB engine is a 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine from the Hyundai R engine family. With a 2,199 cc displacement, inline 4-cylinder configuration and common rail direct injection, the D4HB was widely used in Hyundai and Kia SUVs and MPVs including Santa Fe, Sorento and Carnival.

The D4HB combines strong low-speed torque with good fuel efficiency and is equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger on many applications. Different versions were developed for different vehicle generations, emission standards and markets.

The D4HB uses a DOHC 16-valve cylinder head, common rail direct injection and turbocharging. Its variable geometry turbocharger helps provide strong torque across a broad engine speed range while supporting improved efficiency and emissions performance.

Power output and engine equipment can vary according to vehicle model, production year, transmission and market. The exact engine specification should therefore be confirmed before ordering a replacement engine.

The Hyundai Kia D4HB has a 2,199 cc displacement with an 85.4 mm bore and 96.0 mm stroke. Depending on the version, output is approximately 181–200 hp with peak torque of approximately 400–441 Nm. The engine uses common rail direct injection, turbocharging and a timing chain.

The D4HB engine was used in Hyundai Santa Fe, Grand Santa Fe, ix55 and selected Tucson applications, as well as Kia Sorento and Carnival models. Application specifications vary according to vehicle generation, market and emission standard.
