The Volkswagen CJE engine refers to a group of 1.8L turbocharged gasoline engines from the EA888 Gen 3 family. With a 1,798 cc inline-four configuration, direct fuel injection and turbocharging, the CJE series was used across selected Volkswagen Group applications.

The CJE series includes related engine codes such as CJEB, CJED and CJEE. These variants have different power ratings and vehicle applications, so the complete engine code should be confirmed before purchasing.

The CJE engine features a four-cylinder DOHC 16-valve design, turbocharging, direct gasoline injection and a timing chain system. EA888 Gen 3 development introduced several changes to the engine architecture compared with earlier EA888 generations.

The CJE series has a 1,798 cc displacement, 82.5 mm bore and 84.1 mm stroke. Depending on the exact variant, output ranges from approximately 144 to 177 PS, with torque varying by application.

CJE-series engines were used in selected Audi and Volkswagen models, including Audi A4, A5 and A3 applications and Volkswagen 1.8 TSI applications. Exact compatibility varies by engine code, model year, transmission and market.
