The Nissan MR20 engine is a 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine used across a wide range of Nissan passenger cars, SUVs and MPVs. The MR20 family mainly includes the MR20DE multi-point injection engine and the later MR20DD direct-injection version, with specifications varying according to vehicle model, production year and market.

With a 1,997 cc displacement, aluminum construction, DOHC 16-valve cylinder head and timing chain drive, the MR20 engine provides a practical balance of performance, fuel economy and everyday reliability. It has been widely used in Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail, Serena, Sentra, Sylphy, Teana and other applications.

The MR20DE uses conventional multi-point fuel injection and variable valve timing, while the MR20DD uses direct gasoline injection and more advanced variable valve timing control. Both versions are naturally aspirated inline 4-cylinder engines with a 2.0L displacement.

Engine specifications can differ between MR20DE and MR20DD versions, so the exact engine code, vehicle model, year, transmission and market should be confirmed before ordering.

The Nissan MR20 has a 1,997 cc displacement with an 84.0 mm bore and 90.1 mm stroke. Depending on the version, power output is approximately 133–150 hp and peak torque is approximately 191–210 Nm. MR20DE uses multi-point fuel injection, while MR20DD uses direct injection.

The MR20 engine has been installed in Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail, Serena, Sylphy, Sentra, Teana, Altima and NV200 models. MR20DE is commonly found in earlier applications such as Qashqai J10 and X-Trail T31, while MR20DD is used in later applications including Qashqai J11, X-Trail T32 and newer Serena models.

Because different versions may have different intake systems, sensors, wiring, ECU calibration and mounting configurations, customers should provide the VIN or original engine code before purchasing a replacement engine.
